My Students

Students nowadays know only what they happen to hear on the radio in the car or on the TV. Students tend to have a lack of information as to what is happening or new in the world and especially the science world. This short magazine will keep us more informed and up to speed on new happenings.

I have 110 5/6th Graders that are classified as Middle Schoolers in our school district.

Our school has just recently consolidated and we have half of our students traveling each day from apx. 20 miles away to come to the Middle School in Nora Springs and then when they reach HS age they will travel to Manly to attend HS. These kids have adapted very well.

My Project

I would love to introduce this classic magazine to the students. It would be a great resource and a supplement to what we already use as resources in our classroom. We spend a lot of time talking about real life science and it's important to expose these kids to what they will actually encounter as they grow older.

Not only will these magazines be used on a monthly basis as a classroom resource; they will also be something that we can keep and look back on as a resource and a supplement to our curriculum.

Some of these students do not have the benefit of getting a magazine subscription or having something to read that is geared toward their age and reading level. This will give them that chance and exposure that they so dearly need.
