My Students

With no thermometer clamp, how am I supposed to get a temperature reading (safely) over an open flame? Due to budget cuts, I recently had to take over a high school science class. My classroom is not set up for chemistry labs, nor does it have the proper materials to do labs safely.

My students live in a very small rural area.

Some ride a bus 1 hour, each way, just to attend school. We constantly face budget cuts, but our community is great! They recently passed a Bond Issue, and we will be moving into a new school in April. My science lab now is basically a large classroom with no sinks, no proper chemical storage area, and carpeted. Our lab materials have been around for 10+ years. I am trying to get some new materials stocked up for the new classroom we get in April!

My Project

My students need a fast and effective way to get hot water for labs, timers that actually work, and thermometer clamps to accessorize our ring stands. Students need these materials to learn about speed, acceleration, Boyle's Law, Charles' Law, and entropy.

Allowing this project to be funded will open up funds in-district, for bigger items (like an acid cabinet).

All students deserve to do simple and basic labs, and these materials will help them do that.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
