My Students

Reading and writing are critical skills for students of all ages. Unfortunately, acquiring these skills is not always easy (or fun).

I teach in a small, rural community in Oklahoma, and my students range in grade from 7th to 12th.

Like most students, they would rather play sports and video games than do school work; however, they are always willing to try new techniques in the classroom. They really like being able to interact with each other and to see what other students are capable of doing.

My Project

I have requested a variety of resources for improving reading comprehension and writing skills. The language detective game will allow students to improve grammar and editing skills while having fun with classmates. The activities in 6 writing traits will let students develop their writing skills by seeing what other students are doing. The various reading comprehension activities and resources provide a quick way for students to work on these skills a little every day.

Being able to communicate by writing and reading the works of others is critical to students success in high school and college.

By supporting this project, you will enable my students to further their writing skills and increase their comprehension. You will make it possible for them to succeed now and in the future.
