My Students

Have you met students who feel like no one cares about them? No one cares if they learn or not? Well, that is how my thirty 5th graders feel in my class and I want to be the one to change that feeling this year.

My 5th graders are students in the inner city of Detroit, who are reading 2-3 grade levels behind.

They feel that no one wants to help them, so they will not try. My goal this year is to help them build confidence within themselves and help them to achieve their reading goals.

My Project

Take it to your seat learning centers will help students to practice skills that they need help with in a fun way. The book bags will help students to store the books they get from the school library, which will help build their comprehension skills.

This is my 1st year teaching and this project will help me to get my inner city of Detroit 5th graders to read at a 5th - 6th grade level by the end of the school year.

With the help of this project, I feel that it will be a start for students to see that learning to read is and can be fun!
