My Students

I recently attended a workshop on being a strategic teacher. I am trying to implement these strategies in my classroom. I have purchased new items for my classroom, but now I need these things to finish the job and I am out of money. These items will help me better prepare my students for testing.

I am the reading teacher for all fourth grade students in my school.

I am restructuring my classroom so that I may incorporate new teaching strategies. I have materials but we need to organize them so that we can began to work in small groups. Working in these small groups will allow otherwise shy children to become more involved in the lessons being taught. These are the students that normally fall between the cracks and go unrecognized as being in danger of failing until they are so far behind that they do fail. I want to reach every child in every lesson that I teach. These items will help me to do that.

My Project

My students need book shelves, desktop sorters, and a book display stand to organize their books into categories. They will be peer teaching and I will be teaching lessons from these categories. The items that I am requesting will help us put all of our books into categories which will make it easier for us to get to when we are teaching a lesson. These items will also help us to incorporate partner and small group instruction. Our workspace will be clear for us to have small group instruction.These materials will free up lots of space for us. Each student will have their own workspace and will also have space to work with partners and on small group projects. Being able to work in groups is essential for some students. Being able to work with other students takes away some of the tension that they may have and gives them the freedom to participate and learn.This is what I want to achieve with my students.

After going to this workshop, I am convinced that strategic teaching and small group instruction can lead our students to success.

All students will benefit but the ones who might not otherwise experience success can and will. Students who work in groups or with partners will eventually see what they are capable of and will experience success. By funding this project, you will alow me to change my classroom and make it into a place where every student will experience some level of success
