This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember the joy âÃÂÃÂShow and TellâÃÂàbrought to you as a child? Do you remember the excitement that was produced from sharing your work or your special object with others? Today students can have the chance to share their work with others through the wireless connection of Apple TV.
I teach 4th and 5th grade gifted students in a Title I Georgia public school (which means over 40% of the students are on free and reduced lunch).
The students are very engaged and motivated in learning with technology. Given the shift of many jobs in the workforce, students need to be exposed to technology in order to become marketable to future employers.
My Project
I am requesting an Apple TV and cords necessary to connect the device (as well as iPods) to the projector currently installed in our classroom. Through AppleâÃÂÃÂs new iOS 5, a feature called AirPlay can enable iPads and iPods to project to the Apple TV. By hooking the Apple TV to my projector, students can play iOS games, share website, and share work on the screen for the whole class.
By allowing students to play games or share class work on the screen through the use of their iPods, motivation and engagement would be at an all time high.
The excitement it would provide my class would provide tremendous growth and ownership over student work and learning.
