My Students

"Lean On Us" is our song to enter into the world of simple machines. We are your future. We need hands-on material to explore the world we live in today. We want to be able to serve you and our community with the knowledge we are learning in school.

Pine Grove Elementary School is a Title I school and has 4 fourth grade classes with 29 students in each, which will total 120 students to get a hands-on in the simple machine area.

The material purchased will be able to be reused each year so it is an investment to Pine Grove Elementary School and our future scientists. Georgia Average Yearly Progress (AYP) will include science subject area as an indicator starting the year 2011-12. A Science Club is being established at the school for students showing interest in science. Each fourth grade homeroom class will have a number of students to represent their homeroom class. Those students will redeliver to their classmates of the material they had learned. This project will be focused on simple machines, force and motion.

My Project

A Science Club is being started at Pine Grove Elementary School this year. Students will visit each major subject areas in science with projects, videos, guest speakers, and outdoor hands-on activities. As the students visit this area the theme song “Lean On Me” will be playing to swing them into learning and applying the science. The Science Club Team of each homeroom will share the experiments they had learned with their class. The projects are made with common materials such as: gem clips, rubber bands, etc. The students will work in smaller groups with a Science Club Team member to assist them on their individual project.

Georgia is low when it comes to the national testings.

We need you to help us get the hands-on items in order that we may score high on the CRCT in the Spring 2012. But most all that we will have a better understanding how simple machines can help make our lives easier.
