My students need supplies such as the Fossil Fuels DVD, Oil Sands Lab, and a Clever Catch Ball to learn about chemistry in the environment, and saving Earth resources.

My Students

Do you remember doing labs in school? For many Middle school students, they are the reward for learning the "boring stuff". Labs bring Science to life, helping to solidify understanding and knowledge of the subject. Oil, in its varied forms is a natural resource many know little about.

My students are bright and energetic.

They enjoy hands-on activities. We are in a high poverty district that cannot afford to provide many science supplies, because of this, there are few opportunities for labs. Our school has recently been converted to a K-8, but without the corresponding equipment or rooms. In order for our students to be competitive with others from traditional middle schools, we need to try and bring in as much "real" science as possible.

My Project

Fossil Fuels DVD will explain where oil and other fuels come from, how they are used, and why we need to conserve. The Clever Catch ball will help students to think about ways of conserving. The Oil from Bitumen Lab will challenge my students to expand their "Science brains" and teach new lab techniques. All the materials will help my students to have a more challenging, and rewarding Science experience in Physical Science.

My students need interesting, challenging materials such as the Oil from Bitumen Lab and the Clever Catch Ball.

Bringing science alive with a text book is challenging, especially when many students don't read at grade level. Labs help to bridge the gap. To be successful in a lab takes different skills and team work-real world skills. Please consider donating.
