My students need 10 drum heads. The ones they are using are old, worn out, and have lost their snap. We need 10 drum heads for 10 headless drummers.

My Students

Ah, the pleasures of fall . . . the changing of the leaves, the cooler temperatures, and the sound of the local high school marching band practicing; the crisp sound of the high and tight snare drums echo in the cool autumn air. Sounds nice doesn't it? One problem: the drums are worn out.

Our marching band currently has 80 members with 12 on the drum line.

We have a dedicated group of hard-working students who have a genuine love of music. We are a public school in a rural area in Florida with a rich tradition of excellence in marching band.

My Project

If we had more drum heads, we would be able to use more students in the drumline. Our band budget requires students to pay $200 per year in dues, while our competitors pay 5 times beyond that for dues. Even our hardest efforts and commitment does not equal the playing field. Even duck tape and velcro have their limits. The grant money will meet an immediate need and allow us to focus on directing monies into other pressing areas.
