My Students

Many of my students are not physically fit and these supplies will provide ways and opportunities to challenge their minds and bodies.

This grant is written for a small rural school that is fed by two small towns.

The students are very involved in activities like baseball and soccer, but I have found in the two years that I am with them that they lack cardiovascular endurance, basic sportsmanship skills, and the ability to problem solve through situations that arise during play. It is my intent to engage students in fun physical fitness activities while also teaching them problem solving and other life skills.

My Project

Hula Hoops: Hoops can be used for many activities such as your basic hula,arm,leg,hand,and finger spins. They can be thrown in multiple ways. Rolling is a great favorite and so is the always popular come back. Scooter: Scooters are a wonderful cardio workout tool. I use them in multiple games and activities and even in problem solving activities. Unfortunately they do wear out and always need to be replaced. Yarn balls or snowballs as I call them are great catching and throwing tools and from K to 5th grade they love to have a snowball fight. The activity cart will make my life easier because of the ability to transport materials from storage to my teaching station.

All these supplies will be used by the entire student body.

Many students tell me that PE day is the reason they come to school. In these hard economic times my principal and PTA try very hard to fund our needs, but this is a wonderful opportunity to supplement my curriculum.
