My Students

Creativity Counts! Students are very computer savvy. However, they are unable to use their skills and expand on their creativity when given project-based learning assignments to complete because they do not have technology at home or immediate access to it in school.

My students are from a high poverty area.

They are hard working learning disabled students who are struggling through high school to overcome adversity and get a Regents diploma. Most students do not have access to computers at home, but have great ideas and creativity to complete project-based learning activities. They get very excited about it, but don't really have the means or materials to follow through on their ideas.

My Project

Helping a student who is learning disabled use their creativity and strengths to design and implement their ideas and help them meet and exceed common core standards needed to graduate from high school is one of the most rewarding feelings you can have. Students get excited about using technology that they would not have an opportunity to use because of who they are or where they go to school. Students learn through many different ways. This project would help those tactile, hands-on learners as well as creative thinkers.

Purchasing a piece of technology that students would normally not have access to is both exciting and exhilarating.

It would allow them to be creative as well as read books online and see other visual presentations.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
