Creating Calmer Citizens with Yoga

My students need materials to start our early morning yoga class. In this order are mats, blocks, straps, and some fun games to get our class started.

My Students

Do you remember the kids that just didn't fit into any class? Every year there are a few students who just can't seem to hold it together in school. We are trying to have a morning yoga group to help our students be more successful in school.

Our diverse students attend an inner city public school.

Our need a bit of intervention to help them be successful in school. Our students have difficulty concentrating, struggle making friends, have difficulty with gross movement, and completing school tasks.

My Project

This group is designed to help students improve concentration and behavior before being referred to special education services. A classroom teacher/yoga teacher and occupational therapist decided to work together and meet the needs of our struggling students. This grant would provide the mats, blocks, and straps to teach an early morning intervention class to 12 students. The group will rotate every 8 weeks and a new grade level group will begin.

Public school intervention programs are just about gone.

We have lost our funding and sometimes it just takes a little bit of extra help and attention to change a life. Won't you help us with this change?
