We Love to Read!

My students need leveled books and a listening center with headphones to help them develop their reading skills. Reading is the key to success!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Who doesn't love to read books? It takes you to a different place and let's you use your imagination. Our school is in a high poverty area and there is no money or resources to buy them books. I want to give them the gift of reading. It opens the doors to so many opportunities.

We are located in New York State.

My students are learning disabled and there is a wide range of reading levels. They would benefit from having access to books in the classroom. This would help them discover the joy of reading. With your help, I can provide them a valuable tool.

My Project

A classroom library full of nonfiction and fiction books. Also a storage for these books so that future students can also share these beautiful books. These books will provide such much enjoyment. We don't have many books in the classroom right now. I have received some donations from friends. I have gone to garage sales and to the library to buy discarded books. Yet it is still not enough. My students and their families do not have the resources to buy them books and if they are not exposed to literature they are at a great disadvantage.

I remember being a little girl and being taught to read.

What a beautiful gift that person gave me. I still love curling up with a book and escaping into another world for just a little while. Reading is the key to so many doors. I would love to pass on the gift of reading to my students. It would provide them with so many opportunities.
