My Students

These students have the great opportunity to this year to have the organization of a composition book in almost every class! It is a great idea, but quite the challenge when composition books don't fit into one's binder to carry easily. An industrial hole puncher is needed to remedy this!

The wonderful students in this school community are our future innovators, leaders, and and great idea holders.

All of these future aspirations require great organization. They are off to a fabulous start, with the school streamlining to focus all learning records in composition books. These young learners have the potential to develop systems of organizing, notating and recording information so that they can use it to further their hypotheses and conjectures, but all is lost if they have no way to carry these bundles of knowledge from class to class in a giant school building and with only 5 minutes to pass (no locker use until lunch).

My Project

Currently, my students have 6 subject areas. Every class requires a section in the binder they bring to school that is supposed to hold their assignments, their supplies, their homework and their notes. Most classes have replaced this potential mess of loose leaf paper with a crisp, clean composition book to combine these all in. Many students, despite having the best intentions for the "holders of knowledge" they use for each class, end up misplacing, leaving at home, or losing these composition books forever. In middle school, if we as educators and community leaders were able to assist in this organizational slip up, many of these students will begin to develop the long term organizational skills it takes to be organized, on time adult in a fast-paced world.
