My Students

The problem that my students are faced with is the fact that after school hours many of these children are engaging in risky behavior. Between the influence of peer pressure and the involvement of negative role models, some of these children have no choice but to follow a negative path.

Everyone wants adolescents off the streets and learning new skills after school.

The problem is that there's no consensus on what kinds of programs benefit minority children in inner city area most. After school activities such as playing basketball, learning piano or volunteering at nursing homes keep adolescents from experimenting with sex, drugs and other risky behaviors, and help produce happier, healthier, more productive adults.

My Project

The Roaring Tigers Youth Basketball Program will EMPOWER YOUTH to become contributing members of society through motivational based, after-school programs. This program will help create an atmosphere of teamwork and responsibility that will transfer into the student’s academic work. As a result, these at-risk students will be prepared for life and ultimately become caring, productive contributors to their communities. My program will offer tutoring, counseling, and an afterschool basketball program. Currently, we are in need of basketball equipment which will help launch our program. We are in need of 36 instructional basketballs. Your contribution will give students the opportunity to rise above all obstacles in their everyday life.

Our program is so important because we will focus on building CONFIDENCE in elementary-school-aged children by integrating life skills, character education and entrepreneurship with engaging experiential, fun after-school activities.

The goal is to help the youth of our community take ownership of their lives and rise above their obstacles such as violence, drugs or economic status to become contributing and productive members of our society.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
