My Students

My students are not able to use the different types of technology in the science classroom. They are learning from books and the one computer that I have in the back of my room. These tablets will give them the chance to explore the world of the Internet without ever leaving the class.

The students in my class are at the last stage of their middle school career.(8th Grade) I would like to provide these students with as much information as possible about the science field and the different types of technology that this world is offering.

There is a diverse population in the school ranging from students with low income to students with moderately high income. Also, there are many different races, languages and beliefs represented throughout the population of the class. The students are devoted and work hard to achieve the many tasks that are given to them in the class.

My Project

Many schools are able to offer the use of technology in the classroom through the use of laptops and tablets. I want the students I teach to experience the same type of education that other schools experience by using the tablets that I have requested. The students will be able to explore the surface of mars and dissect an animal just by tapping a screen. Also, it will allow students to search for different reading materials such as articles to support the many different topics and views that will be discussed during class.

My goal as a teacher is to teach science application to the students.

Students sometimes lack motivation because they can't see the relevance in why to learn the information. Real life application is hard to show students from pages of a book, but if they are able to take a tablet and see the science in action through YouTube or other websites then who knows the possibility of what can be learned.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
