My students need 30 portable flash drives. This technology allows them to save their own work and build digital portfolios for their class assignments.
In a society that is pushed forward by technology, our community does not have the resources to provide our students with the needed materials to be successful in today's middle schools, high schools, colleges, and professional jobs.
My students live in small rural town in Oregon.
They are a very outgoing group who like to use their creativity and imagination while working and playing at school. Each student has various skills and abilities. It is a priority in our class that each student is successful and helpful. We make sure all academic needs are met by working together in pairs and teams during class. Though that can be a very difficult task, they are truly learning how to work around and with one another and their differences.
My Project
The 4gb flash drives are going to be a really useful tool for my students. The district provided technology is not always fail safe and we often times have a difficult time saving work done with word processing and other technology based documents. If my students had these storage devices they would be able to save all of their work from the beginning of the year until the end of the year. With all of their work saved they will be able to create a digital portfolio that they can take with them at the end of the year. In a society that is pushed by technology, it is important for these students to know how to create, present, and save their completed work. The flash drives also allow students to learn how to edit their work on word processing documents. Nowadays, editing is not done by hand or at the same work station. If students have portable flash drives they will learn how to edit work using technology. These devices will make these things possible for my students class!
Every child needs the opportunity to become an expert at using technology.
As adults on the go, we save our completed computer generated documents on a flash drive. This allows us to take them to various work stations, meetings and presentations. My students need the same opportunities we have by using these flash drives. Flash drives will help my students know what it is like and what it takes to be a professional in a technologically based society.
