My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher, and I currently have 17 students in my classroom. I am very excited about the new year, and I would love to have some hands-on activities to inspire my class. My school faces many budget challenges in the upcoming year and new supplies would be a welcomed luxury.

I like to incorporate as many student-center activities as possible because I believe students learn more when they are actively involved in lessons.

For me, science lessons rock! This is why I would like to have a rock tumbler for our classroom and an earth science rock collecting kit.

My Project

The earth science rock collecting kit includes books and the necessary materials that will provide a firm foundation for beginning our rock unit. Once we establish a good learning foundation, we will jump into the tumbler and begin the hands-on aspect of this unit. The children will be asked to bring in different rocks from their community, and we will place them in the tumbler. The children will be able to monitor the tumbling process and eventually get to see the end result. Seeing is believing for a five year old!
