My Students

Why you ask? Attention and Impulse, Anxiety, Hyperactivity, and Self Esteem. All of these areas are addressed through the practice of yoga.

These little yogi's are desperate for consistency.

They come from an environment full of stress, high crime, high poverty, and little attention is given to their individual needs. Yoga allows students to channel negative energy and impulses into something more constructive. A short yoga session each day would allow these students a time to unwind, and calm the anxious child. It would also provide students with an opportunity to gather their focus, to prepare for the environment that surrounds them. Finally, a daily yoga session would help boost self esteem, as students begin to master different yoga poses.

My Project

We are asking for a classroom set of yoga mats. With their own mat, students will be allowed to flow through simple yoga positions in a ten minute yoga session each day. Two positive side effects of yoga are increased fitness and better concentration. Of course, yoga also provides students with a way to relieve stress. These little yogi's are eager to leave their troubles and stress on their mats, and become healthy little yogi's!

Another word for yoga is "union".

Yoga combines physical exercises, mental meditation, and breathing techniques to strengthen the muscles and relieve stress. This combination will provide a new and unique opportunity for each student.
