My Students

Who is Percy Jackson and is he the one the prophecies foretold? My eighth graders aren't sure, but they do know they cannot wait to find out.

The best word to describe my students is inquisitive!

The eighth graders at our small, rural middle school love a good story, and they love to learn. I like to find books for them that are entertaining but also informative. That works for them, and this year they are really hoping we can read some of the books in the Percy Jackson series. They like the idea of a good story mixed with Greek mythology! I like the idea of making learning fun.

My Project

Hands down, reading is an amazing way to explore the world without really leaving your own home. By reading these books, my students will increase their vocabulary, their understanding of Greek mythology and their ability to think outside the box. With the boxed set I have requested, we will be able to read the first three books in the Percy Jackson series. Students will have their own copies to read, giving them the opportunity to work independently while at the same time joining in on class discussions.

The Percy Jackson series is excellent.

I believe the stories in this series will both intrigue my students and afford them the opportunity to learn about Greek mythology. When you support this project, you will give my students the opportunity to explore mythology from a completely different perspective. You will also be assisting me in developing a love of reading and learning in all of them.
