Technology keeps changing, but schools do not have the funds to keep up with it. In order to keep my students engaged in every aspect of their school day, including art, this iPad 2 will give them the most up to date technology in a small affordable package.
I am a ninth grade teacher in a poor urban area in New York.
I teach Studio Art in a Title I school where every student receives free lunch and breakfast. These are fantastic kids who deserve the best in order to close the achievement gap and become college ready.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad 2 and some accessories to enhance my students' Studio Art class. With this iPad I can access the Internet and educational apps. There are many apps that are art based where students can use the iPad as their artist tool. I have requested a cover to protect the iPad and an AV converter so it works to be projected with an LCD screen.
I will be able to show power points on this of topics in art that we will be discussing. The students will be able to use the iMovie app and create their own stop animation videos in class. There are also many other educational apps I can download that the students will have access to in my class.
This iPad will replace an old dying laptop that is very slow and unreliable. The students were very frustrated when they would use it. We can do almost everything on the iPad that we could do on the laptop.
It is donors like you who give underprivileged students an advantage in succeeding to be college ready.
These students have so many disadvantages, and giving them a top notch piece of technology will enhance their time in my class. It will also show that people care about them enough to give them something as special as a new iPad 2.
Thank you for donating to our project!
