My Students
Ripped clothes, small cuts and hitting the ground. What do these things have in common?... Things that happen when you sit in our desks. Our desks were donated to us after Hurricane Katrina. They are old and falling apart. They are becoming a hazard and are breaking everyday.
Our students have been through turmoil over the last five years.
Our community has made tremendous improvements, but we are still not 100%. Our school is a big rural county school. We teach a variety of students who come from a variety of lifestyles. Overall, I think we have some of the best students in the state. They work hard and deserve the best.
My Project
I am requesting new desks. I think our students deserve better than what we have. Budget cuts have caused us to cut back on spending and our furniture has suffered. We are glad to tolerate the discomfort to keep jobs, but with your help we won't have to.
I teach Algebra 1.
This is a state tested subject for our state. Our students work hard all year long to pass this test. New desks would be a great reward for their perseverance and hard work.
