Learning through fun and enjoyment is crucial for young minds! Social skills, bullying prevention... not always the first thing kids want to learn, but when I have tools to make it fun, good books, games and activities, then they love to learn! These materials will make a big difference.
We are a low income neighborhood with 70% free and reduced lunch.
Our families struggle with poverty and the related issues such as crime, abuse, and basic survival issues. Many of my students do not have good role models at home and need a lot of social/emotional support from the school. These students love being at school, and want to learn!
My Project
Having tools to teach students about feelings, anger management and social skills will greatly benefit kids lives. Students who learn social emotional skills early on do better academically and are far less likely to drop out of school. By being able to "play" games about anger management or social skills the students are having fun and not even realizing they are learning, which helps a lot with resistant kids!
