Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine a family home without children's school work displayed all over the refrigerator or an elementary school with no colorful student work published on bulletin boards? With budget restraints and cuts, copies and color ink are becoming a luxury. Help us to insure our creativity thrives!

My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future.

With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer. Our school is 100% poverty stricken; along with only one other in the state of South Carolina. We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation. We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success. By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.

My Project

According to Grace Fleming, learning styles researcher, when visual learners use a visual aid when studying, like a colorful outline of test materials, he or she may retain more information. For this type of learner, visual tools improve the ability to recall information more completely. The HP printer will allow me to print materials in color for my students who need the visual stimulation. After students create projects in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Photostory, color copies can be made for students to display for others to see. Often these documents are left on the computer for small viewing audiences only. With the HP printers, students can share technology projects with others.

The HP printer will aid me in reaching my visual learners.

Handouts, pictures, photographs and other support documents will be printed in color to support student learning. Classroom displays and hallway bulletin boards will also be printed in color for visitors, parents and other teachers in the building to see the learning that is taking place in our class.
