Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

History should not be dry, boring, or irrelevant to students. Technology makes it possible for students to interact with history in new and interesting ways. There is no limit to the possibilities an iPad would give to our room.

We are a small middle school in a small agricultural community.

We have a large migrant population and the school is about 98% Hispanic. Most of the students come from lower socio-economic backgrounds therefore introducing them to new technologies is critical.

My Project

The iPad I am requesting for my class would serve an incredible tool and resource, and would strongly enrich the education of my students. Of course, it would be ideal for all students to have their own, but that of course is not realistic at this point. But I strongly believe that is where education is headed and that soon, many students will have individual tablets to do work in school and take home. With the addition so an iPad to our class, I will be able to hook it up to our projector and do so many wonderful things that will help prepare my students (educationally and in a technological sense). The iPad would be an incredible resource for our class, and will be something that all of my students can learn from and appreciate. From taking virtual tours to providing my students with immediate feedback on state preparation, the iPad would add a tremendous amount of insight and flexibility to the lessons I create, & their learning experience.

Bringing history into the hands of students is a real struggle to my teaching.

I believe that having access to some of the amazing new technologies out there will inspire my students to continue learning beyond the classroom walls.
