Ink, Ink, We Need Ink!

My students need 3 ink cartridges so I can print out worksheets, writing paper, and real life pictures.

My Students

Have you ever been to a school that has proper funding? They have clean hallways, up to date technology, an active PTA, beautiful books in the library, and if the teacher needs a certain supply for a lesson, all he or she has to do is ask for it. Unfortunately, that is not my school.

My urban school has over 60% ESL students and 90% who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

We are constantly being asked to do more with less, less teachers, less teacher's aides, less paper, less supplies. It is daunting, when these children need so much. Our budgets have plummeted and we are expecting the biggest amount of cuts for next year in district history. We have ran out of several colors of construction paper and were told that it will not be replaced. Our laminator is broken and will not get fixed this year. The office is out of tape. In addition, my printer is out of ink and there is no money to buy more.

My Project

I need printer ink to help me teach. When teaching science, I want to be able to print out pictures of different types of rocks and minerals that the students are learning about to affix to posters and charts that we create during the unit. When teaching writing, I want to be able to print out writing paper with correctly spaced lines for first grader's handwriting. Wide ruled filler paper is much too thin and a blank sheet of paper doesn't teach them to write neatly. When teaching math, I want the students to be able to conceptualize addition and subtraction, but also be able to solve problems on paper. I will need to print out quality math practice worksheets to provide them that opportunity.
