My students need a human skeleton model and anatomy charts which will lead to healthy curiosity and educational discovery.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Exposing students to appropriate science displays in the classroom allows for a daily science reminder. Displaying models gives the subject constant exposure and offers students the opportunity for inquiry and exploration.
My science scholars are 7th and 8th grade students in an under-funded urban school.
They are at a very inquisitive age that is perfect for scientific inquiry. Science concepts tend to be very 'blah' and boring if they read it directly from a textbook, but applying the concepts to things they enjoy makes science come alive for them.
With this skeletal model, my students will have the opportunity to interact with a life-sized skeleton. They will gain a deeper understanding of the skeletal system by being able to touch the bones, manipulate the joints, and note the characteristic features of the skeleton. They will understand how the skeleton supports the body, protects internal organs, provides for movement, stores mineral reserves, and provides a site for blood cell formulation.
Throughout life, my science scholars will experience events and incidents in which their bodies and bones will be affected.
Having a thorough understanding of the internal structures will allow for them to focus on their health and well-being and will assist with healing from injuries. Your generous donation to this project will provide my science scholars with an opportunity to have access to resources that are necessary for developing a deep understanding of science content.
