Music practice time is precious! Unfortunately our band kids have to set up and tear down their band area each time they have practice. Someday our charter school hopes to have a band room but until then band has to practice in the cafe. This takes up very important instruction time!
Our students are bright kids that have chosen to leave their regular school for chance to take higher level courses and progress their education beyond regular public school.
Algebra, Physics and Bio/Chem are classes they start in 7th grade. We are a charter school in our 4th year. We have about 186 students that range from grade 7 through 12. Currently our school is housed on the second floor of an office building in Merrimack. Great space but no permanent band room. Along with having brilliant students in math and science, these kids enjoy making music. ASD is able to offer a band class twice a week. Unfortunately precious band instruction time is lost to setting up and tearing down the music stands, chairs and instruments.
My Project
Precious music instruction is lost during each band class while the kids have to move music stands one by one back and forth between the music storage closet and the cafe where they practice. This music storage cart will move the stands all at once and get this job done in less than half the time. Also space is at a premium at our growing school. This cart will help the students contain the band equipment in their tiny storage closet. The band would love to have actual instruments donated but that is beyond the price range. This cart will fill a big need at our small school.
Every minute counts in the classroom.
Instruction time is precious. Doing menial tasks each band day that takes away from instruction time is not a benefit to our students. This piece of equipment will decrease set up and tear down time of each band class and substantially increase the instruction and practice time for our fledgling band.
