My Students
My students have learned how to make a painting, but they don't know how to create a piece of art that can be reproduced for production.
My students are TAG (Talented and Gifted) students and ELD (English Language Development) students grades kindergarten to 5th grade.
I also teach high school students in the after school program. They are enthusiastic, curious children. They like to create and learn new skills.
My Project
My students are very artistic. Showing them another way to create and produce art helps them find new ways to learn and express themselves. I am requesting materials for linoleum block printing. Enough for each of my classes, to be able to sample this project.
I will be showing students a variety of famous block prints and letting them explore different styles, techniques, and applications. Students will be able to make several projects. I will also give students information on entering several art competitions with their prints, and we will show the prints in our school.
This project is important because it is something they haven't had very much experience with in the past.
Block printing is a style of art that is used by professional artists and shown in galleries around the world. My students should learn how these pictures are produced, and increase their appreciation of the process.
