My Students

Can students receive the most knowledge possible from a classroom alone? The answer is NO! Field trips are a valuable resource that many classrooms today do not have access to, so many students are not learning all there is to know.

My students are the most giving, kindhearted, well-behaved kids I have seen in a while.

One would never know that this group of kids is so underprivileged, they can barely afford to buy a milk carton to bring in for an art project. Each day they arrive at school with smiling faces and are eager to learn about anything and everything. Our school is a community school, so the kids all act like a big family. Even the "big kids" (our middle schoolers) are kind to my third graders on the playground, teaching them sports and offering help with homework.

My Project

When you think back to your elementary school years, what is it that sticks out the most in your mind? If you are like me, most likely you have thought of a certain amazing field trip. I want to take my class on the trip to the planetarium and museum so they will forever remember what they learned about our solar system. While at the museum, they will see a planetarium show presented by real scientist. Then the students will explore hands on exhibits of different planets and even get to experience what it feels like to be on the moon.

This project is so important to my students and myself because it is a HUGE learning opportunity for some very needy kids.

Donations to this project will take our unit from ordinary lessons on the solar system to an extraordinary experience that the kids will remember for the rest of their lives!
