Digital Cameras for Technology in the Arts

My students need 10 digital cameras in the classroom to learn how technology and art intertwine. Digital portfolios and claymation are only a few amazing things to learn.

My Students

Most of my students are in third, fourth, or fifth grade.

I teach in a beautiful, old classroom that has many wonderful art supplies available to us. Their future in art lies in technology of which we have no access to at this time. Learning different media in art is very important and right now technology may be the most important media we can teach our children so they are able to be successful outside the classroom. My students are bright and observant. They are very caring and thoughtful. They have the desire to make a change in the world and I need to give them the tools to do it.

My Project

With these digital cameras, we can do so many things! I will teach them to make digital portfolios, a skill required for anyone in the art world. I will teach them Claymation and photography basics to open their eyes to possible careers in art like advertising, graphic design and movies. Students worlds will open with new possibilities. If I don't introduce the possibilities, how will they know something is possible?

Art is such an important part of our lives, it feeds our souls.

I want the opportunity to show students it is possible to have a career in art so their soul is fed throughout their lives and they are able to feed others. Art is an important tool in telling stories, making social justice changes, expressing oneself and learning history and math in new ways among MANY other things. Help my students by giving them a boost into the world of art and technology.
