Making Memories Memorable

My students need a digital camera, camcorder and battery pack to help them document their first year in kindergarten. We want them to have special memories of this wonderful experience!

Do you remember how it feels when someone takes your picture and you want to see what it looks like on the screen? Those "pictures are often times worth a thousand words!" Well that how my kids feel when I take photos of them. They want to touch them, feel them and remember the memories.

I teach all day kindergarten to non-English speaking children who are just learning how to read, write and speak our language.

When they see me taking photos of them on the first day of school you can see the excitement in their eyes! Our school is in an impoverished area and the students are not provided with much at home, so as a teacher I have to provide our students with all of the extras beyond the paper and pencil activities. "Making Memories Memorable" is a grant that will give our students the boost they need that first year of school and get them off to a great start!

My Project

"Making Memories Memorable" is a grant request for one Digital Camera and one Flip Video Camcorder. The camera would allow me to take regular and spontaneous pictures of the children in the classroom and during special events. Currently I have to bring in my family camera from home when I need to take photos and then return it home. Classroom photos cannot be taken spontaneously, like they could with the proposed grant camera. The photos would be used in a "Making Memories Memorable" Photo Scrapbook at the end of the school year. The Flip Video would allow me to take regular and spontaneous videos of the children in the classroom and during special events. The videos would be used in a "Making Memories Memorable" DVD at the end of the school year for Open House and it would also be given out to all of the children with their Photo Scrapbooks. These "Making Memories Memorable" Photo Scrapbooks and DVDs will be looked at over and over again by our kindergarteners and their families!

We all have a Photo Album lined up on some shelf in our home and though we may not look at it every day, when we do, we remember the details of each picture.

My students would love to look back at their memories too with your support!
