This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A 19 inch color TV would have been cutting edge technology when I was in school. How the times have changed. The TV in my class is actually older, April 1991, than many of my students! It has seen better days and no longer works. With your help it will be at its rightful place: the recycling plant.

My school is located in South Florida in a low socioeconomic urban area or "da hood" as the students like to say.

The school caters to high school dropouts. 100% of our student population have dropped out of high school for various reasons. Here they are receiving a second chance at receiving their high school diploma. Something, for many, which they never thought possible. Some will even be the first in their immediate family to do so.

My Project

Having a television in my classroom will allow me to enhance students learning and inquiry throughout the year. Having a television in our class will allow my students to use this important teaching and learning tool on a regular basis instead of it being "that box" hanging up in the corner. Having a television will allow me to be able differentiate my instruction by bringing in a visual aspect and also allow me to do more whole group activities.

Times are tough right now.

It is a fact we all know and face everyday. School funding has been getting cut lower and lower through these recent years making budgets shrink and resources limited. However, YOU can make a difference in the lives of these students. Your generosity can bring to my students much needed technology and provide me with a different content delivery method and 21st century way of getting the material they need to know to mold them into productive citizens in society.
