My third grade students are an excited group of twenty that love to learn! This year they have really struggled with understanding certain math concepts. Having math manipulatives that will help them understand at a concrete level will greatly improve this problem.
My students are in the third grade.
They are a very competitive group that wants to be the very best in everything! They love to socialize whenever possible and bring new ideas, or methods, to the lesson. I encourage their constructive criticism and creativity daily with myself and with other students. We try to maintain a set of order and respect will having an open, learning environment.
My Project
Through the use of these manipulatives my class will be able to perform a variety of activities, from a simple five-minute review on place value to an hour long math game! These items will allow my students, and myself, to have the freedom to explore new, exciting paths of learning. Most children learn better through hands-on learning, this project would allow more of that to take place in our third grade classroom.
Being able to receive these math items would allow my elementary students the opportunity to learn while having fun!
As a new teacher, I try to stay away from worksheet after worksheet, having these tools would allow learning to take place by applying it to the child's day-to-day life.
