Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Launch our Learning Lab! Our school has utilized an empty classroom to provide additional support for struggling students but we need your help to acquire instructional materials to stock our lab with.

The Learning Lab is open to any student on our campus who needs additional teacher support in a 1:1 or small group setting to work on academics.

Students are given passes to the lab from their teacher so that they can drop in to work on skills that are really difficult for them. It can be phonics review or preparing for a spelling test, dividing fractions or expanded notion. Many of our students are new to the country and/or are English language learners and need to catch up on basic skills to meet the demand of grade level curriculum. This lab will provide another opportunity for these students to get this additional instruction. Our school is located in a very diverse, low income neighborhood where outside and/or private tutoring is not achievable for most families. Our school would like to provide students with more opportunities to work on skills that are difficult.

My Project

Currently the lab is open all day on Wednesday and is staffed by certified teachers who have donated their time to provide additional instruction to these drop-in students. We want all students to have access to additional support regardless of their grade or subject matter.

These basic materials will make a huge difference in how of Learning Lab will benefit students.

Having these materials available to Lab teachers will reduce the time the teachers take to organize instruction, which in-turn equates to more direct instruction to students.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
