My students need digital cameras, memory cards and ink in order to write and publish their own academic photo journals.

Photo albums are constant reminders of all the amazing parts of our lives. Cameras capture births, graduations, birthdays, weddings, etc. Why should they not capture all the amazing learning that takes place right here in my classroom? Who better to take the pics than my very own students? Read on..
My 2nd grade students are very bright kids who crave fun, hands-on learning.
While they attend a Title I, inner city school in South Carolina, with a high poverty percentage, they do not let circumstances keep them from learning. They are energetic and LOVE journaling in science, writing, and language. They love to look back and reflect on what we have done so far. I decided to post this project in an effort to grow their journaling skills as well as integrate the art of photography.
These resources will change the students' lives in my classroom for the better because it will give them an opportunity that they will otherwise never have. The thought of having 5 digital cameras in one public school classroom is unheard of in this economic climate. This project is indeed above and beyond the basic curriculum, but my kids deserve it. Many of them have such hard home lives and school is the only place that is safe and warm for them. Imagine, that at the end of the year, they will have a complete photo journal of this happy, safe, and educational place to take home with them. Not only will it be a constant reminder of their friends and family here at school, but it will be an academic journal as well. I will allow students to take photos of the word wall, the math wall, their peers' work, and various learning stations around the room. This will be a project of a lifetime for my elementary class!

It will allow me to teach and educate in a way that teachers only dream of. So many times we have amazing ideas that never make it out of the bottom drawer of the filing cabinets in our minds. Help me make this awesome project possible for my kids this year and years to come. I cannot do it without your help!!! My kids are counting on you!
