4th Graders Want a Step Up in Math!

My students need 12 Math Steps Workbooks to supplement their math curriculum and help prepare them for the state test.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Wouldn't you want to give your child the step-up that he or she needs? That's exactly what I want to do for my students.

I work in a very impoverished area of New York, and the students in my school come from the projects that surround the school.

Our school population is "high poverty," which means that a high percentage of students get free or reduced-price lunches. My classroom is full of curious, 4th grade, special education students. My students love math, but we don't have the resources to practice the basic skills or develop their learning. I am constantly making new worksheets, or printing off pages from the Internet, and the children lose the loose pages or misplace them. I am not able to look through their work or send home practice without worrying that it may not come back. It's very frustrating for both my students and myself.

My Project

However, with a copy of level 4 "Math Steps" for each of my students, they can learn and be engaged in learning math. Our school provided us with these workbooks years ago, but has since cut them out of the budget. They were an integral part of the curriculum, and we miss them dearly. It is baffling that they can take away such an important component of the scope and sequence.

With your help, my students can continue their learning at home with their very own copy of "Math Steps".

They will be able to perfect those basic skills and extend their knowledge with the plethora of skills and activities that are included in this workbook. Please, help me give my students a much needed step-up in math.
