My Students
If music is the food of love then our students need to feel and feed off of your love. Students in our school district have an opportunity to participate in band and orchestra in grades 5-12. Often the true challenge for them are the basic supplies needed for their school instruments.
Our students struggle with everyday needs as the poverty rate is 75%.
Our students are amazing and are part of a program that in this past year scored in the top ten in both band and orchestra at the State level. In these days of AYP, our district continues to believe and support students as humans as well as test scores. Humanity and the Arts are held in high esteem in our district. Students have the opportunity to use school instruments in our program.
My Project
It can be heart breaking for our students when they cannot afford a replacement reed or find valve oil for the basic upkeep of their school district instrument. What a joy it would be to be able to be the student that could pull out the needed mute for the trumpet or trombone line in jazz band. The use of these supplies will make such a difference to the self esteem and contribution that these students can make to the instrumental program. Our students will learn that using top supplies on their equipment can turn in top performances.
We are able to supply students with an instrument to play and participate in the instrumental program.
We have not been able to provide the daily supplies needed to be successful on the instrument. As our economy and district has suffered, so have our students. Many could not continue with an instrument because they could not provide the basics needed. Your kind donation can change that for the many students needing school district instruments.
