This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Since the beginning of time, children have not liked to study. They would much rather play, and if you have their interests at heart, you will let them learn while they play; they will find that what they have mastered is child's play" Carl Orff.

I teach K-8 music in a California Charter School serving primarily low-income Latino and African American students.

We are trying to build up our music program by having instruments for the children to play and explore on. The students have had a wonderful time this year playing the bass and soprano xylophone but we need more to complete our set.

My Project

If this project is funded, I will be able to have over half of my class on instruments. If I put two on an instrument, I can have everybody playing something! This would be amazing for all of my students as they all beg to play the two that we have so far. We will be able to perform many xylophone pieces and learn about music theory and simply how much fun it is to make music with instruments that sound good!

These instruments could show several of my students how much fun music can be.

It will help my students discover a passion they have never explored. Please help my students explore their imaginations and come to their full potential as they grow.
