My Students

Attention Visual Learners: You learn best when information is presented visually and in a written language format. When a teacher is holding up a tiny worksheet or small chapter book... it is very difficult for you to follow and/or comprehend what he/she is talking about! Elmo can fix this!

I have a classroom of 20 kids in Rural Illinois!

As everyone in our area knows, funding is a HUGE problem that all schools are facing currently. I keep hearing that we need to do what is "best for the kids", but wow is this hard, when we have no budget to work with. Our classroom numbers are going up because of situations where teachers are having to be cut. I am blessed to still have the opportunity to work with these children and I am.

My Project

The Elmo would be a great resource to have in the classroom! MODELING is a great way for students to learn and grasp concepts. Modeling can be done at anytime (without making an overhead transparency) with the use of an Elmo. Also, this would be a great way to allow the kids to be able to share their work as examples to the class. Not to mention that Elmo would be beneficial for kids to know exactly what is expected on assignments because you can show these examples. First of all, an Elmo could be useful in ALL subject areas!! For example, it could be used to demonstrate math concepts using manipulatives. In reading, I would love to be able to do guided reading lessons from a life size book projected onto the whiteboard. It would be great to be able to underline, circle, and highlight important parts of the textbook or any other novel we are reading. With a class of 20 students it is also difficult to find 20 copies of a certain novel to do lessons on and these are only a few perks!!!

I am a firm believer that by purchasing an Elmo you would be helping to improve our students' education.

This generation of children are programmed to do a million things at once (homework while watching TV, clicking between 3 or 4 windows while surfing the net, etc.) and Elmo help the children stay focused in on where we are and what we are doing! Attention is mandatory for the children to comprehend what is being taught and an Elmo gives visual clues to keep the students on track in ALL subjects.
