This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Finding the "just right" book can be hard for students. Sometimes children pick books that are way too hard and get frustrated that they can't read it. By having the books in my classroom presorted into reading levels, each student will be better able to self select books at the right level.

I have 32 excited 3rd graders this year, ready to read read read!

We use Accelerated Reader where they can earn points for books they've read and passed a quiz on. Unfortunately, all of my classroom library books are shelved in the traditional sense, in a random order. I really think this bookshelf will help!

My Project

I am ordering a bookshelf that I can group my classroom library books into. I will group the books by reading level, which will help the students select books at their own individual reading levels. So many times, I catch kids reading books that are too hard or too easy. The kids just need a little help knowing how to find a book in their correct reading level. This shelf will do the trick!

Research shows that kids need to be reading at or slightly above their own reading level to make growth.

I think that this shelf will help organize my hundreds of books into reading levels. The kids will love the easy access and choose the "just right" books!
