Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Special Education teacher. My English and Algebra classes consist of students in grades 9-12 with disabilities including: Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Other Health Impaired, and various Specific Learning Disabilities. Furthermore, almost half of the school (total population approximately 3300) consists of English Learners and seventy-five percent are considered Socioeconomically Disadvantaged. Unfortunately, many of the students do not have opportunities to work with technology outside of school and most are achieving below grade level due to the results of living below poverty.

Our entire district is in program improvement and we are most definitely a high needs school.

Along with the above, our students are suffering even more due to the current global economic crisis. In my classroom, there is not one student computer or technological resource available. Our school has many computer programs to assist our special needs learners; however, my students are not provided opportunity due to the fact that we do not have any student technology.

My Project

Having computers available for student support in the classroom would provide my students with opportunities that many other children take for granted on a daily basis. Your donation will be greatly appreciated and will potentially change the lives of these disabled learners. Our children... our Future!

As we all grow and have unique needs, all of our children need the opportunity to access technology and learn from all the wonderful things computers have to offer.

Technology is how we link to one another and connect around the world and EVERY CHILD needs a CHANCE to LEARN!
