My Students

Reading and playing a musical instrument helps a child with their left right coordination, helps them to be better readers and have confidence that they can try something new and succeed. I need more keyboards so that my students can all succeed in the music classroom.

My students are in a low income, rural community.

The only music they will receive is through our small school. If they are given a chance to try and succeed in the music classroom, this will build their confidence and they will succeed in all areas of school.

My Project

My students go on to take private lessons after being in the classroom for a year. Many have come to me with music books of their own and are able to play the songs for me. My students usually go on to become band members and are learning to play another instrument. This is the only outlet for students who excel in music.

I have very creative students in our small town and want them to have the same advantages that a big city could give them.

The keyboards open up an area in their lives that would not be available without the keyboard karate program. Music is a tool that can be used to let every child excel.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
