Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I can't imagine a life without books. Many of my students do not share this passion and therefore are struggling readers. I need to change that!!!

My third grade students come from all over the world.

They are all second language learners and many are refugees from Myanmar, Somalia and other African countries. We are a Title 1 school with 100% free lunch. My students are enthusiastic about learning but reading is a struggle for many due to the lack of language.

My Project

When a reluctant reader is begging for a book to read and does not want to put it down, I celebrate. These graphic novels are highly entertaining and children wait in line for them. Introducing these novels into our classroom library will make reading more exciting and hopefully hook those readers who have not found the love of reading.

This project will help me to instill the love of reading in my students.

My class and future classes will enjoy these books. It will help my students to become better readers, as you can only get to be a better reader by READING!
