My Students

Imagine a world with no color! The paint for the children to use in my classroom has reached the bottom of the bucket. The easel, we currently are using, has seen much better days.

My classroom is full of very active 4 and 5 year old children, who love everything.

The students in my classroom are eager to explore new and exciting things. We are a very small, rural community in Oklahoma. For many of the children, this is the first experience they have with school and with being away from their moms, dads, or some other family member. Our school has many families that live on fixed incomes and barely make ends meet.

My Project

Easel painting is a very important daily activity for all young children. Easel painting helps children increase their communication skills, it expands their creativity, and improves their hand-eye coordination and motor skills. The children will be able to manipulate colors, creating new colors for them to identify. Easel painting will allow children to have an outlet for emotions, that they sometimes can't express verbally.

Art projects can help build a child's self esteem.

Imagine all the refrigerators that would be empty without the "Look What I Did" pictures, if children were not allowed to create. In my classroom, it would be great to have the easel sat up everyday for the children to use at center time. Currently, we do easel art once a week but with a new easel and paint, the children will have the resources to paint everyday.
