My Students

Story telling has been used for centuries. Help my Kindergarten class build reading comprehension with story retell props!

I work at a Title One school in California.

My Kindergarten students are low income and most qualify for our free and reduced lunch program. Many of the students are English language learners with no preschool experience. The students I teach are eager to learn and embrace all of the new experiences that come with going to school for the first time. They are enthusiastic about learning, reading and playing!

My Project

I am requesting story retell props to use with my Kindergarten class. Story retelling helps students with comprehension. By retelling stories, the students reveal not only what they remember from a story but what they understand! I will be able to use the props in a whole class setting to focus on a deeper understanding of specific stories.

Story retelling improves children’s reading comprehension skills in a multitude of ways.
