My Students

Life science can be a magical experience. Do you remember the first time you planted a seed and waited anxiously for it to grow? Watching it, watering it, learning to connect to the soil and growing things is an experience that many students would benefit from.

We are in California in an inner-city district.

Many students live in apartments and cannot grow many plants or have a garden. I want to turn our classroom into a teaching garden this year. With lettuce and legumes, flowers and ferns. All to encourage an interest in gardening, Life Science and caring for growing things. I want to share my love of growing and caring for plants with them. My students are warm and generous and would enjoy growing plants and learning more about science and nature.

My Project

Planting, growing, and using Scientific equipment will help our students become better scientists. They will learn about growing things from the cell to the living organism. Working safely with microscopes, looking at tissues, growing plants and observing how plants and animals function.

We have 60 plus new 7th graders who are eager to learn. They have not been able to have much lab time, and by funding our project, they would be able to learn about photosynthesis, using a microscope, growing things and do some fundamental lab experiments. Thank you.
