My Students

My students are required to do several projects throughout the year which require PowerPoint presentations. In order for my students to present, we must go to the library to use the projector. Library time and space is limited which makes presentation difficult. We need a projector in our classroom!

My 10th grade English students are motivated to do out-of-the-box type projects.

They love to use technology and enjoy making creative PowerPoint presentations and/or videos for their projects. Our school is in a very rural area with many low-income families. Being able to do projects on the computer is more economical because money doesn't have to be spent on poster board, supplies, etc. Students are proud to see their projects projected on the big screen. This is a great motivator for many students that don't like to present in front of the class.

My Project

A projector and screen will change the whole atmosphere of my classroom. On a daily basis I will be able to project our agenda for the day, present writing and vocabulary lessons that I have created on PowerPoint, show movies or video clips that correspond with the literature we are reading, and of course allow students to present projects which they have created. All this without ever having to leave the classroom. My students will learn what is required for their grade level, but in a more high-tech, creative way. Also, projecting on a big screen with a projector is much easier to see and much less messy than when using an overhead projector with transparencies.

Donations to this request will make a big difference for my students.

I know that they will greatly appreciate being able to present their projects to their peers in our classroom, instead of waiting for scheduled library time. All the writing, vocabulary, and literature lessons that I have created can be projected on the big screen so that students can easily see and benefit from them. Students will be able to utilize and enhance their computer skills which is so important in today's world.
