My students need utility knives, stencils, drafting tools, and balsa wood to construct working windmills for an alternative energy project.

My Students

Are you concerned about the gulf coast oil spill? Do you wish we had economical alternative energy sources? Help me inspire my AP Environmental Science students with an alternative energy project.

My AP Environmental Science students are a motivated and enthusiastic group of young adults that genuinely care about the world around them.

Many of them already know that they want to help discover the solutions we will need to the world's current environmental challenges.

My Project

I am requesting drafting supplies, balsa wood, cutting tools, and other craft supplies so that my students can build several different windmill models. They will be testing how changing the blade dimensions, angle, and spacing will effect the efficiency of their windmills.

My students learn best when they are actively engaged in the curriculum.

By designing and building their own windmills they will have the opportunity to work collaboratively and practice the communication skills they will need when they enter the work force.
