My Students

Your support of my project will allow me the opportunity to ensure that my current students (and future students alike) will enjoy the story, The Snowy Day, while participating in the Read for the Record event.

I teach a second grade class with a mixture of ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages), ESE (Exceptional Education), and Regular Education students.

I currently have 20 students who LOVE to read and enjoy listening to me read to them (in my silly voices) I love to share the joy of reading with them.

My Project

On Thursday, October 7, 2010, students across the county will participate in the reading of The Snowy Day. Most of my students have heard the story at some point in their lives, but I want to take their experience with the book a step further. With activities, storytelling kits, and different versions of the book, I can expose my students to the book in new ways.

When you find a story you love, you want to hear it OVER and OVER again.

No matter how simple the story, it brings new meaning every time it is read. By using storytelling kits, my students can act out the story for each other and help work on both sequencing and fluency skills. The big book will allow me to share the book with the entire class for the initial reading and then we will add our class name to help "Read for the Record"
